reading list

I am not necessarily endorsing the ideas, strategies or theologies of the following books (except for the fishing books). I read books to simply stretch my mind and look at things from different perspectives. Here’s what I have been reading….

In 2007…

In 2008…

  1. Good list of books there, man! :-)

  2. Great list! I’m excited to see where 2008 takes your reading…

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Scazzero, Bell, McLaren, Hybels, + Allendar’s books…

  3. You have to read The Shack by William Paul Young….it is the most amazing book I have read in a long time….or maybe…ever! Please everyone, give yourself the best gift you have gotten since salvation, be prepared for you life to be changed. You will cry, laugh and be touched to the very core of your being!

  4. If you have not read “90 minutes in heaven” by Don Piper please, do!! It gave me “jesus bumps”. It’s a fast read also. We were also blessed to have Don Piper preach at our church.Life changing even.Good stuff!!

    God Bless
    Laura

Ps any more thoughts on Honduras (how about your wife) I feel I was lead here to do this.

  5. I read UnChristian earlier this year… what a necessary book for our American ‘christian’ culture. You may have heard of a book by A.W. Tozer called The Pursuit of God which was written in 1948. Along with UnChristian, I would put that book into the hands of Christ Followers today.

  6. pete, you need some reformed guys on your list. :<)

A couple books I’m looking at in ’08 are “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan, “What is a Healthy Church Member” by Anyabwile, and Spiritual Reformation by D.A. Carson

  7. [...] works also (a link via Q). I’m liking Pete’s description of his job, I’m liking his reading list (Blue Ocean Strategy is one of my all time favourite books). Anyway, as it’s Friday, check it [...]

  8. Here’s some good ones if you haven’t already read them: The Tangible Kingdom, The Reason for God (pretty much anything by Tim Keller – that dude is smart!), Lousy T-shirt book (Antonucci), The God Who Smokes, I sold my soul on E-bay, Crazy Love, No Perfect People Allowed, Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy (okay, my daughter threw that one in).

  9. What’s on tap for 2009?

  10. Bro, you gotta check out Mark Batterson’s “In a Pit With a Lion On a Snowy Day” as well as “Wild Goose Chase”.
